Well, hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week on our episode, we're talking about Salt and light, and we actually spent a little bit of time talking about an interesting textual translation challenge in this particular passage and about the nature of the scriptures and how we deal with textual challenges and translation issues and that sort of thing. Then we also are going to answer a question that came in from you all about Jesus referring to salt and light as actually predominantly light in a couple of different ways, and some of them feel contradictory like he's the light, we're the light, who's the light? He preached a sermon several weeks ago in our community, but he is a longtime pastor with 30 years and pastor ministry experience huge heart for God and an amazing leader. He's personally ministered to my soul. And we'll talk about Romans chapter eight because that's what Alex preached on Sunday. But it also happens to be the passage that he preached on several weeks ago. And in this episode, we'll center around the questions about God's love. Actually, as good as the scriptures make it sound and what prevents us from sinning. If God loves us unconditionally, why would we stop sinning?
