Well, hello, hello and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology Podcast. This week, we're talking about another delightful subject in the book of Jeremiah, and that subject is lament. And we actually got some really, really interesting questions about this week because I'm actually gonna give you one of the questions now, it says, "what's the difference between lament and complaining?" And we're gonna talk about that in this episode and I'm not gonna give you the answer. Now, you're gonna have to listen to the rest of the episode. And so without any further ado, how do we lament and not complain and whine and all of that stuff? Let's dive right in

Well, hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week, we're talking about generosity and giving. Actually, I think I learned a bunch of things from this week's episode and I hope you do too because my mind was shifted ever so slightly about God's heart when he talks about generosity is such a good, beautiful invitation because it's not just about healing and helping the person that the gift is given to. It's also about healing your soul. So I'm not going to give it any more of it away to you. So you're gonna have to listen to the episode, but it's, I hope it's helpful to you like it was helpful to me.

Well, hello. Hello and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week, it's a food show. I will be eating crackers on this show. And that's exciting and strange for a theology podcast. But that's okay. We're actually talking about thirst. And if you've ever woken up and wondered, gosh, there's something missing in my life. There's something, there's gotta be more to this existence than what I have right now. We're going to talk about that. Maybe your soul is thirsty for something more. And we're going to talk about, how do you acquire that? How do you drink from a well that actually quenches your thirst? So, anyway, let's dive right into this episode of the Red Couch Theology Podcast. Thanks for tuning in.

Well, hello, hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week on the episode, I'm both excited and a little bit nervous if I'm honest because we tackle some really hairy scary subjects when it comes to prophesy and maybe even what's going on. Is there a prophetic voice that needs to happen in America today? Are we going off the rails? We're going to deal with a lot of those questions in this book of Jeremiah in the season of lent. It's a little bit heavy and there are some tricky subjects to navigate, but we're going to try our best. So tune in and find out how do we wrestle with some of these issues that we've just talked about? So without any further ado, let's jump right into this week's episode

Well, hello, Hello and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast This week, we're diving into our last week talking about hearing God's voice and it's kind of an interesting one I think because Alex starts to shift what we might have thought of as friendship with God, and he actually shifts it to this language of patronage, and that might make you squirm a little bit, that if God is our patron and that's what friendship means, does that mean he always is walking around with this attitude like we owe him something and that might actually make you squirm a little bit, but I want to invite you in to listen and you're gonna have to find out. Is he right? Do you agree with him about this? And maybe just, maybe it's actually a more beautiful perspective of friendship than we thought initially. So let's tune in and hear about friendship and patronage and hearing God's voice and do we owe God something?

Well hello hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week we have a guest because Yvonne Biel was a guest preacher on Sunday. So she joined us on the episode today and I'm really excited. I know I say that every single week, I say I'm really excited about this week's episode, and it is true every week. But this week I feel like we had a really provocative conversation about the nuances of hearing God's voice, about the complexity of that, about maybe some personal examples from each of us of how God's voice sounds to us. And then I think interestingly we also talked about what if I don't really want to hear God's voice sometimes, what if he tells me to give something up that I don't want to give up or to do something scary that I'm nervous to do or those sorts of things. So we're going to talk about all those things in this episode. So I hope you lean in a little bit and learn from the wisdom of Yvonne and Alex, and occasionally I'll say some things too. Yeah, let's dive in.

Well, hello, hello and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. This week, I'm gonna try and keep our intro a little bit short because we're talking about listening to God's voice and actually, that's a more complicated subject than you might think. We're going to talk about the nature of the scriptures, how do we know if it's got voice or not God's voice? We're going to deal with some tricky questions that people also submitted about this. And yeah, it's a long episode, but hang in there because I hope that this helps you start to frame the breadth and the width of this complicated subject of hearing God's voice in our everyday lives. So let's tune in.

This week, we're gonna be talking about something we did a little bit differently this past Sunday, which was Ministry Partner Sunday and we're going to make a case for why this subject of church partnerships in the city, caring for the needy, caring for the poor...all these sorts of things are actually one of the most important things that we've talked about in a while here and we're gonna make a case for that in this episode. And so I'm not going to give it any more than that. You're gonna have to listen to the rest of this. Without any further ado, let's dive right in.

Hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. I'm excited. This week, we're finishing up the series that we've been in on anxiety. And this week, we're talking about the anxiety that stems from the present, and really what that means is some anxiety stems from the fact that we are walking around through our everyday lives, wondering if people are going to realize that we're an imposter, we really aren't who we say we are, or maybe we're not as good as that as we appear to be to others and all that sort of thing. And there's this anxiety under the surface that says, I'm really not as valuable as I wish I was. And what if people find out? We're going to talk about that, and we're gonna talk about some of the remedies that the scriptures have to offer to that. We're also going to wrestle with this identity issue in a couple other ways that I'm excited for you to hear, but I'm not going to get into that now. Instead, we're going to dive right into the episode, and you can hear how our identity connects to anxiety and what God has to teach us about that.

"Well, hello, and welcome to another episode of the Red Couch Theology podcast. In this week's episode, we're going to continue with the subject matter that we've been in this series about anxiety; specifically...we're gonna be talking about those anxieties that come when we think about the future. I mean, we can't control the future, and there's a lot of uncertainty that stems from our inability to predict the future. And so we're going to talk about that, but we're also gonna be talking about this challenge that we got in this text that Alex preached on last week, where Jesus says, don't worry about your life; God takes care of the birds, he takes care of the flowers of the field. And in this episode, we're gonna say, well, does he really take care of the birds? Birds die! Sometimes they get harmed, and sometimes they get eaten by other animals. Or what about the flowers of the field? Does he actually take care of the flowers of the field? And what about the many situations we've met, really faithful followers of Jesus, and bad stuff happens to them? What is Jesus actually promising, and maybe we should be worrying about, you know, these are the kinds of things we're going to wrestle with in this episode. And so, with that teaser, I'm gonna dive right into the episode, and you can hear for yourself what we conclude about some of these very tricky and sticky questions. Thanks for tuning in"
